Three Healthy Ways to Lose Weight
Losing weight is a difficult road. You read articles and watch infomercials about products, fitness devices, herbal supplements and so on. But how do you know what method of weight loss will help you lose that excess weight? There are three tried and true methods that will help you lose weight. Follow them and see results.
- Eat a healthy diet- For so many people, when they hear “diet” they immediately think restrictions. Your diet is not a way of eating none of this or only some of that. A diet is simply the foods you eat for life. We eat because we move. The body needs energy and food is our energy source. We also eat because all of the body’s functions require specific vitamins and minerals to function properly. Specific nutrients feed our organs and tissues for repair and growth, and every function our cells perform throughout the day requires a healthy diet for optimum performance.
- Physical Activity- Our bodies are made to move. We have tendons and ligaments and amazing muscles that pull us up and allow us to lift, turn, bend and run. We are meant to use our body and to build its strength through motion. You do not have to train to run a marathon or become an Olympian. Thirty minutes of walking briskly each day can make you feel revitalized. Exercise removes toxins, it helps us to sleep well and it helps to build our bone strength as we age, which are so important in the battle against osteoporosis. Starting with a 15 or 20 minute walk each day will allow you to build to 30 or 60 minutes a day. You will lose weight, tone your muscles and feel better as a whole.
- Drink Water-It cannot be said enough how important water is to our bodies. In fact, the human body is made up of over 50 percent water. Water is required for every process in the body: digestion, respiration, thinking, and so on. Water keeps you feeling well and it keeps you looking well. Without a proper amount of water you may get headaches and fatigue and you may feel nauseated. Water keeps skin more voluminous and radiant. It fills in small lines and wrinkles and keeps the skin supple and smooth. Water keeps you full in between meals, thus preventing unnecessary snacking, and it cools the body after exercise.
By eating healthy, exercising regularly and by drinking an adequate amount of water, excess weight will come off safely and naturally with little effort. It is the way our bodies are made to function and to thrive. Making these changes will allow you to reach and maintain a healthy weight and to live a long and vibrant existence.
